Why add this Philadelphia minted First Day of Issue 2020-(P) American Silver Eagle bullion coin to your collection?
The worldwide 2020 pandemic has influenced lives and businesses worldwide, including the U.S. Mint. As a means to continue production of the Silver Eagle series, while still following social distancing guidelines, the Mint utilized its Philadelphia branch to strike 240,000 bullion coins. Similar to previous Silver Eagle bullion releases from the West Point and San Francisco Mints, the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has certified this Emergency Production 2020 dated coin as a product of the Philadelphia Mint on its label only.
Patriotic American Silver Eagle Design
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty carrying an oak and laurel bouquet, posed walking towards the rising sun while draped in an American flag. The design by Adolph A. Weinman includes the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "2020" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse is adorned with a heraldic eagle design by John Mercanti. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
