Why add this Philadelphia struck Early Releases 2020-(P) American Silver Eagle bullion coin to your collection?
The U.S. Mint introduced the American Silver Eagle series in 1986. Due to the quick spread of the pandemic in spring 2020, demand for the annually issued bullion coin was increased. As a result, the Mint authorized emergency production of 240,000 bullion Silver Eagles at the Philadelphia Mint. This 2020-(P) Silver Eagle struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver is one of those specially minted coins.
Gorgeous Tribute to American Strength
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty draped in an American flag, while cradling branches of oak and laurel, symbols of strength and victory. The image was initially created for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2020."
The reverse design features John Mercanti's interpretation of a heraldic eagle grasping an olive branch and arrows, with thirteen stars above. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
